NZRadVet offers a veterinary imaging consultation service to referring veterinary practices. It provides written reports on images using radiography, ultrasound, MRI and CT cases.
An in-clinic ultrasound service is also available locally in Manawatu, Kapiti and Wellington. On occasion, visits to practices in other areas of the country can be arranged.

Mark Owen
Mark is a registered veterinary imaging specialist in New Zealand and Europe, being a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) and also a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS). Following graduating from Massey University, he spent time in general clinical practice in Taranaki, before undertaking his residency. He trained at the Royal Veterinary College, London and also at Tufts University Veterinary School in the USA. Mark spent about 10 years working at the Massey University Veterinary Teaching Hospital before leaving and setting up NZRadVet. He continues to teach extensively throughout New Zealand and Australia to undergraduate students and post-graduate veterinarians in all aspects of imaging. He has now set up a Specialist Imaging Centre within the Totally Vets Clinic in Feilding offering ready access to Advanced Imaging and radiography support to veterinary clinics.
Emily Short
Emily graduated from Massey University in 2017, earning her Bachelor of Veterinary Science. After beginning her career in small animal practice in Whakatāne, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency and critical care at the Massey University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). She then continued at the VTH as an emergency veterinarian through the Pet Emergency Centre.
Emily went on to complete a diagnostic imaging residency with NZRadVet and achieved Diplomate status with the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in 2024.
Now based in Auckland, Emily supports veterinary teams where she can while enjoying time with her young family. She has a strong passion for diagnostic imaging and values a collaborative, team-based approach to providing the best possible care for animals.
Jessica Montgomery
Jess graduated from the University of Bristol in 2016. She spent 4 years as a mixed practice vet in Cornwall, before focusing on small animal work and following her interest in diagnostic imaging. She moved to New Zealand in 2023 to work as a GP vet in Wellington, including some time at the SPCA. In June 2025 she passed membership examination by the Australia New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists to become a member of the small animal Radiology Chapter. Soon afterwards she started working for NZRadVet as a Radiology intern as her first step towards specialisation.
Nicki Moffatt
Nicki is a qualified medical radiographer with over 30 years of experience in veterinary imaging. She’s taught at several veterinary schools across Australasia, presented at both veterinary and MRI conferences, and delivered CPD training to veterinary professionals throughout New Zealand.
Now joining Mark at NZRadVet, Nicki is excited to be part of a team offering a practical and comprehensive imaging service to vet clinics nationwide.
Outside of imaging, Nicki also works as an Adjudicator with the Racing Integrity Board, spending most weekends at race meetings around the country.
Theresa Hardisty
Theresa graduated with a DVN from Massey University in 2006. She began her career in rural practice, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of cases before returning to Palmerston North to pursue advanced roles in Referral Veterinary Nursing. Over the years, Theresa has developed a strong passion for diagnostic imaging, and for the past six years, has worked full-time in this field with a particular interest in CT. Her professional goal is to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging to support veterinarians in making accurate and timely diagnoses, ultimately improving patient outcomes. Outside of work, Theresa is kept on her toes by a retired Labrador detector dog whose energy and intelligence often outpace her own.
Teleradiology Case Submission
For all digital submissions, there is a cloud-based system where you can load your images accessible through the website link below. You will be able to either direct send your images from your digital system (you may need help from your vendor) or load them manually through this website, making case submission simple.
- If you are a first-time user please click here and sign up. You will need to register your clinic details. You will receive an e-mail once your clinic has been ‘activated’ and then case submissions can begin.
